What is Cutwater AIM?


Cutwater is a cutting-edge inventory management solution for wholesale distributors, manufacturers and e-commerce that immediately identifies dead and excess stocks, quickly evaluates product rankings, sustains gains by highlighting trends in order patterns and improves customer service by highlighting shortages. Does Cutwater require a significant amount of training?

Cutwater user orientation can take less than an hour, using training videos available online. For companies with distributed users, Cutwater’s low-effort product is a practical way to roll out a solution for inventory analysis. Cutwater software is entirely Microsoft-based and integrated with Microsoft Excel. 

How many users across our organization will have access to Cutwater?

However many you want to have access. There is no limit to the number of users.  Cutwater is licensed for your entire Business Unit.  One Cutwater client has more than 50 users on the software.

Does it take long to install Cutwater?

The installation of Cutwater generally only takes 45 minutes to a couple of hours. The software can start making a difference in your inventory management the next day.

Is Cutwater AIM right for my company?

Your company must have certain characteristics to make Cutwater AIM a good fit:

  1. You must be a wholesale distributor, manufacturer or e-commerce company.
  2. You or company management is interested in reducing/rightsizing inventory.
  3. Your product or part count must be over 1,000.
  4. You must be using one of the supported ERPs. Currently, these include:
  • Microsoft Dynamics GP
  • Microsoft Dynamics NAV
  • Microsoft Dynamics AX
  • Microsoft Dynamics SL
  • Epicor Prophet-21

Does Cutwater AIM work with multiple locations?

Yes, most Cutwater AIM customers have multiple locations.  Our product was designed to support the problems that arise with inventory in multiple locations.

Does Cutwater require special or additional hardware?

No, we can install Cutwater on most networked servers, saving both time and money.

What is required to use Cutwater AIM?

Cutwater AIM uses a DB on Microsoft SQL server (could be the same one where your ERP resides). The client interface runs on users’ laptops or on a remote desktop. It updates data from the ERP on a routine basis, so it needs connectivity to the ERP.

Does Cutwater require technical maintenance?

No, new clients and products are automatically included in reporting. Cutwater gives users a reliable way to analyze data without calling on IT resources for assistance or maintenance.
